To be sure there are no any configurations left, we will remove the folder keeping them (if existing still) in an alternative way. In such a way application tries open something missing, selfconfuses, and can finally crash. When despite removed data folder, configuration pointing this folder is still alive. There is one possible reason when you deleted your main Dropbox folder for application crash. Take a look one more time, just to be sure, that all folders mentioned in the guide for advanced reinstall are missing really. If you have uninstalled your Dropbox application entirely, then deleting your main Dropbox folder (the one containing your data) shouldn't be an issue, despite removing this folder is not necessary.
